AWARDS GUIDELINES AND CRITERIA
The granting of awards to deserving colleagues is an important activity undertaken by the Kentucky Council for Exceptional Children. Awards should be very special. They should symbolize a level of achievement that we all would set as a standard of excellence. The Awards Committee of the Kentucky Council, of the Council for Exceptional Children extends an invitation to members of Kentucky CEC Chapters and Subdivisions to submit nominations for person who should be recognized in the State of Kentucky as individuals who have provided meritorious service to individuals with exceptionalities in the state. Nominees, if not elected for an award, will remain in consideration for two (2) consecutive years. Current members of the Executive or General Boards of KYCEC are ineligible for awards.

MARY MAY WYMAN OUTSTANDING KYCEC MEMBER OF THE YEAR AWARD
The purpose of this award is to allow the Kentucky Council to honor the member who has shown consistently unselfish service in promoting the education and welfare of children with exceptionalities in Kentucky.

Minimum Criteria: The nominee must be a Kentucky CEC member in good standing with minimum tenure of continued membership for the previous three years. The nominee should have contributed to the education and welfare of children with exceptionalities in a number of areas- legislation, recreation, curriculum, etc. The nominee should have devoted much time and effort to the local Chapter, Subdivision(s) and the Kentucky Council. The nominee should have provided leadership in the community, with the local school, and with parents.

CARL PERKINS CONTRIBUTOR TO SPECIAL EDUCATION AWARD
This award is to be given to individuals for their distinguished leadership and service in the interest of children with exceptionalities.

Minimum Criteria: The nominee needs not be working in the field of special education nor be a member of the Kentucky CEC. The nominee should have significantly contributed to the education and welfare of children with exceptionalities in Kentucky.

OUTSTANDING SPECIAL EDUCATION ADMINISTRATOR OF THE YEAR AWARD (CEC Member)
This award is to be given to a school administrator whose primary responsibility is special education. The award is for distinguished leadership and support for special education and/or gifted and talented programs in Kentucky.

Minimum Criteria: The nominee must be a special education administrator in Kentucky and a CEC member. The nominee must have provided outstanding leadership and developed innovative programming for individuals with exceptionalities.

OUTSTANDING KENTUCKY STUDENT CEC MEMBER OF THE YEAR AWARD
This award is to be given to a student CEC member. It is the highest tribute Kentucky CEC pays a student member. The student may be a member of a Kentucky student chapter, a regular chapter, or the Council.

CERTIFICATES OF APPRECIATION
Each Kentucky CEC Chapter or Subdivision may submit the name of one agency, organization, media network, etc., which has contributed to the advancement of education for children with exceptionalities in the Chapter or Subdivision. A certificate of appreciation will be signed by the Chapter President and the Council President and sent to the nominated party. Only one certificate nomination from each unit will be accepted.
